The Vet Tech Institute of Houston offers:
• Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technician degree (AAS): Complete the program in 18 months! • An AVMA-accredited program: After graduation, you'll be eligible to take the national licensing exam and become a registered veterinary technician • Job placement assistance after graduation: 90%* of our graduates seeking employment were placed! • An on-site kennel housing dogs, cats and rodents: Gain hands-on experience with a variety of different animals • Access to a local large animal rescue farm: Students work with horses, goats and pigs
The Veterinary Technician Program is accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Vet Tech Institute of Houston is also accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

Meet Some of Our Houton, TX Faculty

Catherine Huff, RVT, graduated from North Harris Montgomery Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences. She is the Program Director and an instructor at the Vet Tech Institute of Houston. A head technician and office manager in companion animal general practices, Ms. Huff has been working in the veterinary field for almost 15 years. She is certified in canine behavior and companion animal nutrition. Ms. Huff is an instructor at Vet Tech Institute of Houston and teaches courses in medical terminology, small animal behavior, companion animal nutrition, clinical pathology, and office management. A uniquely creative instructor, Ms. Huff views the classroom as the arena to motivate students to learn and impact them to excel.
Claire Simms, DVM, graduated from Louisiana State University with a BS in Animal Sciences and veterinary medicine degree. Upon graduation she worked as an Associate Veterinarian at a companion animal practice in Opelousas, Louisiana. She relocated to Cypress, Texas, for the opportunity to work in private practice. Her experience in private practice showed her firsthand the significance of the registered technician in the veterinary profession. Engaging, competent, and humorous, Dr. Simms believes the classroom is the space both to challenge and encourage students to succeed.
